So I have this idea that i’d really like to help artists who aren’t there yet get on the web, or if they do have a site, help them get more out of their online communications. I know there are tons-o-fun services out there for Artists to put their portfolio up online, but that’s not what i’m talking about. Instead I’d like to work closely with local Artists, help them think through their online presence, and implement Content Management Systems around their designs. Toward empowering Philly Art to organize and communicate with a strong online voice.
I could do this for pretty cheap, I think. Using Open Source CMS Software, focusing on clean standards-based design, and relying on the Artist to define their graphic identity, saving on design hours. Here is the basic Idea:
Philly | Art | Web
WEBSITES for ART: $500
Get a powerful semantic publishing platform custom designed by you – implemented by us. We’ll start with initial strategy over a beer, then you’ll get a URL & hosting account and produce design ideas. We splice them, code them, install, and configure an Open Source platform best suited to manage your online brand identity. Quick turnaround to empowered online communication for Philly Arts.
PhillyArtWeb.com
If enough people were interested, this project could sustain a whole network of young creatives starting to explore the medium of the web. Knowledge sharing, information publication, an energenic online mass. Were it to remain actively producing good content, it could serve as a cohesive voice about what’s happening in Philly Art, produced and maintained by Artists in the community – a sort of InLiquid, in their own hands.
Any takers?
